Education/ Career

After completing a BA Ed + Art in 1998, Hayley began a Masters in Education. She taught in Primary Schools part time, lectured occasionally at Canterbury Christchurch University College and painted/ exhibited part time from 2002.

In 2004 she began working for Mark Canning, former owner of Star Gallery, Lewes. She managed the Star Gallery and Star Studios from 2004 until 2007. Knowing her love of India, Mark sent her to India with her brother. They spent two weeks with their Indian family and visited the awe inspiring Temple Caves of Ajanta and Ellora in Aurangabad.

Hayley made two further journeys to Jaipur in India in 2007 and 2008. After her 2007 visit, Hayley decided to set up a studio and paint full time working towards art exhibitions and private commissions. Her first professional studio was based at the Star Brewery Studios in Lewes. In the Spring of 2009 Hayley chose to work from her studio at home so that she could take long country walks in her spare time and continue to work into the evening. As well as exhibiting her work, Hayley is now commissioned to create large and small scale murals for public and private spaces. She is also decorating furniture and historical instrument replicas. At the end of 2009 and early 2011 Hayley taught Indian Miniature painting workshops at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London as part of their 'The Splendour of India's Royal Courts' exhibition and Jain Manuscripts exhibition.
